Departure to Lima downtown
We depart to Lima downtown using the highway or alternate routes to avoid traffic. During this time you will be able to see the suburbs and without a doubt you will be able to experience the terrible traffic that is caused in some parts of the city
Plaza San Martin
The tour begins in Plaza San Martin, a square where the great statue of the liberator Jose de San Martin is located. This square today has become famous because it is the meeting point for any type of protest that is going to take place.
Union street
During the tour we will pass through one of the most important streets in the center of Lima, “Jiron de la Unión”. This has dozens of businesses of all kinds that work inside old mansions, the houses that stand out the most are those that still have wooden balconies, very typical of the colonial era.
Presidential palace
The presidential palace has an imposing construction, it is presumed that it was built on the fortress of the leader of the pre-Inca culture “Lima”. Every day at 12 noon there is a “change of command” with live music and it is something very nice to watch. The presidential palace if of course built in front of the main square of Lima, which was built during the time when Peru was a Spanish colony. The architecture of the buildings surrounding the square is simply beautiful. One of the most important buildings is the cathedral, which remains closed throughout the year.
Saint Francis of Assisi Church
If you are interested in churches, you should definitely visit the Saint Francis of Assisi Church. This religious monument has one of the largest catacombs in America and will leave you speechless.
Departure to Barranco
When our visit in the center of Lima finishes, we go straight to Barranco, which takes around 40 minutes.
Tour in Barranco
Barranco is the favorite neighborhood of Limeños and is known for the art that abounds in its streets. This district of Lima is located 30 minutes by car from the center of Lima and enjoys spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. In this neighborhood we will visit art galleries of famous urban artists such as “Jade Rivera”, who paints murals around the world.
Another place worth visiting in Barranco is “La Bajada de Baños”, a beautiful, very narrow street that ends at the beach and around it there are many art galleries and restaurants.
During the time we are in Barranco, our guide will share the history of the district, as well as the stories behind the different murals that decorate the walls, and you can have lunch at one of the restaurants in the district that are known for their excellent seafood.
