Itinerary
Day 1: Cabanaconde to Llahuar
We’ll pick you up from your accommodation early in the morning (3:30 am) from various areas in Arequipa. After a few hours of driving, we’ll stop at a restaurant in Chivay for a delicious breakfast at around 7:00 am. The breakfast usually includes scrambled eggs, bread, oatmeal, coffee, butter, and jam.
Next, we’ll head to Condor Cross (8:00 am), a viewpoint near the canyon where you have a good chance of seeing majestic condors in flight. We’ll spend around 40 minutes there enjoying the view.
Around 9:00 am, we’ll arrive in Cabanaconde, a small town within the Colca Canyon. From here, we’ll start our trek down into the canyon, which takes approximately 4 hours until we reach Llahuar Lodge. At 1:00 pm, we’ll arrive at the lodge where we’ll have lunch, admire the beautiful landscapes, and spend the night. If conditions allow, you can coordinate with the guide to take a short extra walk in the afternoon or go fishing in the river.

Day 2: Llahuar to Sangalle
We’ll have an early breakfast in Llahuar (6:30 am), but if you prefer to have breakfast later, you can request a packed breakfast to take with you.
At 7:30 am, we’ll depart from Llahuar and start our walk to Sangalle along the right bank of the canyon. This scenic walk lasts around 4 hours, and along the way, you’ll see plenty of cactus called “tuna” that bear sweet, edible fruits.
By 11:30 am, we’ll reach Sangalle, where you can relax and enjoy the lodge’s pools. There’s a small bar where you can buy your preferred drinks. We’ll have lunch at the lodge and rest to prepare for the final day, which is the most challenging part of the tour.
Day 3: Sangalle to Cabanaconde
We’ll start early in the morning (5:00 am) and begin our ascent towards Cabanaconde. This part of the hike is uphill and considered to be difficult. The journey takes approximately 3 hours, and you’ll have the opportunity to witness a stunning sunrise along the way.
At around 8:30 am, we’ll arrive in Cabanaconde, where we’ll take a short 15-minute walk to the town for breakfast.
By 11:00 am, our vehicle will pick us up from Cabanaconde’s Plaza, and we’ll start our return journey to Arequipa. On the way, we’ll stop in Chivay for lunch at a restaurant that offers a delicious Peruvian buffet, although other options are available.
We’ll continue our drive back to Arequipa, enjoying the scenic views and the possibility of spotting camelids such as alpacas and vicuñas. We’ll arrive in Arequipa around 6:00 pm, completing our memorable trek through the Colca Canyon.
